Milwaukee Brewers center fielder Carlos Gomez, League of United Latino American Citizens (LULAC) Council #333 president Fela Salinas, and Arturo Martinez, MATC associate dean of the School of Pre-College Education and Bilingual Education, presented a ceremonial check representing a $4,000 donation from LULAC Council #333 to the Milwaukee Area Technical College Foundation, Inc., to be used for scholarships for Latino students at MATC. The MATC Foundation also will donate $5,000 to the fund to create the MATC LULAC Carlos Gomez Hispanic Scholarship.
The ceremonial check was presented twice on April 23 – at Miller Park, preceding the Milwaukee Brewers-Cincinnati Reds game and again in the Board Room at MATC’s Downtown Milwaukee Campus. The check was presented to Christine McGee, executive director of the Milwaukee Area Technical College Foundation, Inc. MATC President Dr. Vicki J. Martin also accepted the check at the event held in the Board Room.
The scholarship will be available to currently enrolled and new Hispanic students attending MATC. For more information, contact Martinez at (414) 297-6803 or Bob Holland, MATC scholarship coordinator, at (414) 297-6825.

In addition to Gomez, Brewers Martin Maldonado, Wily Peralta, Jean Segura, Gerardo Parra and Khris Davis are expected to appear. Tickets are $30 for adults and $25 for children 14 and younger and can be purchased at the Mexican Fiesta Office, 2997 S. 20th Street, Milwaukee, or the MATC Cashier on the Downtown Milwaukee Campus.
