MATC Foundation Honored Jerome R. McGinnis and Embassy Homes at Partners in Excellence Scholarship Event
MILWAUKEE (March 29, 2012) –The Milwaukee Area Technical College Foundation, Inc., honored Jerome R. McGinnis and his company, Embassy Homes, at the annual Partners in Excellence Scholarship Recognition Banquet March 28 at Milwaukee's Italian Conference Center. McGinnis is the chairman and CEO of Embassy Homes, a Mequon-based custom home-building company founded in 1961.
The Partners in Excellence Award is given annually to a local corporation, foundation and/or individual who has contributed significantly to the success of MATC and the foundation through support of critical educational initiatives.
McGinnis has been a longtime supporter of the MATC Foundation as a board member and donor. He currently serves as a foundation vice president. He received a much-needed scholarship as a college student, which motivated him to give back to others in the same way. McGinnis and Embassy Homes have provided scholarships to many MATC students in skilled trades and technical programs.
The Partners in Excellence event brings together scholarship recipients, donors and the corporate community to share success stories and learn more about the lasting difference donors make in the personal and professional lives of students. Numerous scholarship recipients shared their inspiring stories that were made possible because of donors.
Ellen M. Gilligan, president and CEO of the Greater Milwaukee Foundation, gave the keynote address. Champion Sponsors of the event were Snap-on, Incorporated; Embassy Homes, and the American Federation of Teachers, Local 212.
Founded in 1979, the MATC Foundation, Inc., is a private, nonprofit, 501(c)3 organization that plays a vital role in supporting the scholarship needs of MATC students and in developing partnerships with business, industry and community-based organizations to further the mission of the college and expand critical resource needs.
